In this role, she addresses legal needs across several departments and business groups. At McGuireWoods, Scott’s litigation practice focused on product liability, consumer class action, environmental and commercial litigation matters. Prior to joining McGuireWoods, she litigated commercial and insurance first-party matters before West Virginia state and federal courts. In this role he helps manage Smithfield’s litigation docket. Stark joins McGuireWoods who has served as Smithfield’s deputy general counsel for litigation since October 2020. At McGuireWoods, Stark’s practice focused with an emphasis on cases involving high-exposure punitive damages claims. He argued and won appeals and dispositive motions in state and federal court and helped clients secure favorable outcomes during and before trial. Stark does pro bono work through the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Legal Aid Justice Center’s Just Children Program. He has served as pro bono counsel to incarcerated juveniles and to plaintiffs in federal civil rights cases. Before joining McGuireWoods, Stark served as a law clerk for Judge Stephanie Thacker of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit. “McGuireWoods lives its core values. In this role, she advises on issues relating to new product development, data privacy and influencer marketing, as well as negotiates commercial agreements and reviews creative assets for intellectual property compliance. Since joining McGuireWoods’ in January 2019, Takhar focused her practice on counseling financial institutions and fintech companies on legal, regulatory and product development initiatives for diverse and novel products. Her experience spans commercial agreements, data privacy matters, complex business litigation, state licensing requirements, state and federal regulatory inquiries and more. During her tenure, Takhar frequently wrote about fintech and privacy topics for the firm’s blogs. In his new role, Veintimilla’s responsibilities include assisting U.S. District Judge Dan A. Polster with legal research to aid in the judge’s decision-making process, drafting orders and opinions, and helping the judge during courtroom proceedings. Veintimilla, who joined McGuireWoods’ in 2019, represented clients in complex securities matters, focusing on internal investigations, regulatory enforcement proceedings and defense of financial institutions. “I have greatly enjoyed my time at McGuireWoods and feel I have developed tremendously as an attorney in my two years here. Voorheis, an associate in in Tysons, joined Marriott International Inc. on Jan. 19, 2021, as privacy and data security corporate counsel. At Marriott, Voorheis provides global legal support on cybersecurity and privacy compliance issues. During her six years at the firm, Voorheis counseled clients on risks and compliance strategy in intellectual property, marketing, data privacy and data security matters across industries.
