Wasserman Music is a music agency that represents a world-class roster of artists for live performance, touring, brand partnerships and beyond, and is a division of global sports, music and marketing agency Wasserman. The deal marked the sixth M&A transaction over the past 12 months in which McGuireWoods has represented Wasserman. Wasserman Music launched in April 2021 with the acquisition of Paradigm’s North American live music representation business. McGuireWoods was 12th in Refinitiv’s rankings and 15th in Bloomberg’s report for global M&A deals. McGuireWoods also solidified its position as a leader in mid-market M&A, with top deal count rankings in multiple categories. The firm was fifth in Refinitiv’s league tables and ninth in Bloomberg’s rankings for U.S. mid-market deals. For worldwide mid-market deals, McGuireWoods was 12th in Refinitiv and Bloomberg rankings. The firm’s private equity practice ranked fifth in the United States and ninth in the world by deal count in league tables published by PitchBook. On Refinitiv’s list, McGuireWoods ranked third for advising companies in leveraged buyouts and related financing rounds and sixth for all private equity rounds. McGuireWoods ranked No. 2 worldwide in 2021 year-end league tables for advising lenders in global deals valued at $237.1 billion to rank second in deal count and fourth in proceeds in the year-end league tables. Lias-Booker, Lawyers Network chair attended the June 9, 2022, awards, which honored the achievements of firms, companies and individuals for advancing diversity and inclusion in the United States and Canada. Lias-Booker, chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, was recognized for leading efforts to support, develop and retain a new generation of diverse attorneys. Dann, based in Pittsburgh, helped create a special name change procedure in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, that standardized rules and provides a degree of anonymity and safety for the transgender community. McGuireWoods was shortlisted for Outstanding Firm for Diversity and Inclusion for increasing diversity within its ranks and fostering an inclusive work environment. Diversity and inclusion are pillars of the firm’s strategic plan. McGuireWoods’ Diversity Action Council holds firm leadership accountable for promotion and development of diverse attorneys by ensuring all firm resources are effectively deployed to further their careers. McGuireWoods was a finalist for Outstanding Firm for Pro Bono for providing legal assistance to low-income and underserved communities to address challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, helping indigent litigants through partnering with corporate legal departments to serve communities. McGuireWoods lawyers volunteered time supporting dozens of causes, including advocating for prisoner rights, fighting deportation for immigrants who faced peril in their home countries, defending low-income tenants at risk of eviction and representing victims of domestic violence. McGuireWoods has been an LCLD member and participant since the organization was founded in 2009. The LCLD Fellows Program, launched in 2011, is designed to help diverse, high-potential, mid- career attorneys excel in leadership roles and build stronger client relationships. The firm also made FT’s shortlist for Innovation in Data Analytics for developing a dashboard to manage large, complex litigation projects under fixed-fee arrangements. Led by the dashboard tracks thousands of cases across all timekeepers — information that can be sorted and filtered to set monthly hour budgets effectively.
